District 4 – Emergency Goalie Affiliation Procedures
Background
D4 recognizes that situations arise where a team’s goalie and rostered affiliate goalie may not be available to participate in a game. In this situation, an emergency affiliation procedure has been defined that will allow a team to play:
- A non-rostered affiliate from a lower division/category
- A non-rostered affiliate from the same division/category (i.e. a lateral affiliation)
Note that emergency goalie affiliation applies only to situations within the district. The emergency goalie must come from within the district. This affiliation only applies to play within the District, not an outside-district tournament.
Pre-requisites
- A team must have exhausted all options for obtaining a goalie for the game
- The procedure applies only to the day of the game. For morning games, a 12 hour pre-game window applies so arrangements can be made the evening before the game.
Procedure
- A team having an urgent need for an affiliate goaltender approaches their association convenor and the request bubbles upward to the association president
- The association president seeks the permission of the League President for the emergency goalie affiliation via email
- As a courtesy, the opposing team’s association president is CC’d on the request
- The League President communicates their decision
Special Note
- In other districts, it is the District Chair that grants approval
- In D4, this authority has been delegated to the League President
