District 4 – Emergency Goalie Affiliation Procedures

Background

District 4 recognizes that situations arise where a team’s goalie and rostered affiliate goalie may not be available for a game. In these cases, an emergency affiliation procedure allows a team to play using:

  • A non‑rostered affiliate from a lower division or category
  • A non‑rostered affiliate from the same division or category (lateral affiliation)

Emergency goalie affiliation applies only within District 4. The emergency goalie must come from within the district. This procedure does not apply to tournaments outside the district.

Pre‑Requisites

  • The team must have exhausted all options for obtaining a goalie for the game.
  • The procedure applies only on the day of the game. For morning games, a 12‑hour pre‑game window applies so arrangements can be made the evening before.

Procedure

  • A team needing an emergency affiliate goaltender contacts their association convenor, and the request is escalated to the association president.
  • The association president seeks approval from the League President for the emergency affiliation via email.
  • As a courtesy, the opposing team’s association president is CC’d on the request.
  • The League President communicates the final decision.

Special Note

  • In other districts, the District Chair grants approval.
  • In District 4, this authority has been delegated to the League President.
